Homemade Destiny
One more day has passed me by,
And as I look around,
I have to wonder why
I’m still here on solid ground,
Instead of figuring out a way to fly
What if I had made that turn?
Or taken that chance?
Would I still yearn?
Or be in a romance?
Or have bridges left to burn?
And though getting here
On anything but my own two feet,
I’d consider unfair
And in itself a defeat,
Maybe I was simply unaware
But stubborn or proud
I’ve found my fate,
And as I vowed,
The cookie cutter life will have to wait
Until my spark blends in with the crowd
