THE WINDY HILLS..
Remember the times we used to come here
To play, ride bikes or just stare at the sky
To climb the old oak or to hear the church bells of near
And to feel the gentle wind pass by.
But now you’re gone and I’m left alone
Lonely, here I stand on the windy hills
From where I can see your house, now overgrown.
A better education, a good job to pay all your bills,
The reasons your dad gave for taking you away.
Though you didn’t want to go and we cried a lot
Fathers always have their way.
Time’s passed now, we’re older
And you’re a city girl
With makeup and great clothes and hair in twirls.
But if you come back, won’t you remember me,
A past friend and a friend forever to be.
