Bent

Came home, three hours after curfew last night
Stumbling drunk, stumbling happy, stumbling left and right
She said, “the boy’s kiss simply set me free”
Confusing his experience, for compatibility

Three days, she swears the phone is dead
Three days, she won’t get out of bed

Honey cheer up, don’t you know the way this story ends?
If life’s a movie then this is just a twist or a bend.

Bubbles won’t tingle, from her vodka in a coffee cup
Turns on the shower, so her tears won’t wake her up

And she knows, though accepting’s not her style
That the boy, didn’t leave town for awhile

Run out of luck, run out of hope, run out of things to say
Just know that your too good, to just be thrown away

So honey cheer up, don’t you know the way this story ends?
If life’s a movie then this is just another twist or bend.

Well fine then- if you won’t listen don’t
But just know, that if you’re hurting that boy won’t

Please stop- smudging off your eyes
I really hate, how you’re still pretty when you cry

No, no- that’s not where that’s supposed to go
Please don’t- aim that knife you’re so-

Messed up. Like a child, can’t control yourself
Hand extended and your crying out for help

Look there, the grass is greening
And though I know my words have little meaning

What a shame, that a kiss could break your heart
Just a tombstone, that could have been a work of art
