Another dinner date, movies and popcorn
But still she remains the pinky ring princess
So slight, that curl of metal
Snaked around her tiny finger
Will it ever come off, or
Fusion to the skin?
Graduation never came
And he was there, but
Still she remains the pinky ring princess
Bought at a cheap boutique at the
Boardwalk, but she thought it belonged on
Another hand, another finger altogether
Subtlety is not his strongest subject, so
The hints hang dead in stale air, tired of blowing
From one angry mouth to the other
And still, still the pinky ring princess
Presides over her dominion
On a squishy neon throne, and
She wonders sadly, if ever
She will be crowned
Ring finger princess, or if
She’ll just stay as brittle as ever
