Desperation
The new kid in school
A blank canvas to paint
Alone in the corner,
To get out he can't wait.
Everyone thinks that he is just the new kid
Who doesn't have friends
Yet. He has a story
And no one knows how it ends
He knows they won't care
Because no one ever does.
I was everything to him,
But now there's no more us.
I know he was hurt
And I know that he cried,
But I just wasn't ready
And because of me he died
I found him in the bathroom
An empty bottle on the floor
A few pills upon a note
Taped upon the door
Addressed to me I began to cry.
He knew I'd be the one
To find him lifeless;
He was finally done
I was his best friend
And he was mine
But more went wrong,
I would come to find
His father had left
Leaving him behind
With a heroin addict mom
To keep him in line.
He said he couldn't do it
So I told him to try
Alone and abandoned
He fell to the sky
I couldn't help but wonder
Who he could have been
If his life was different
If this time he could win.
Being the new kid in school,
With a blank canvas to paint
Friends by his side
For tomorrow he can't wait.
