Even Princesses Have Feelings

That nice, polite, smile
Beneath perfect hair
Hides hundreds of worries.
Even she has her share.

Her life may seem perfect;
She has her white knight,
But behind her façade,
Something’s not right.

Sure, he makes a great prince.
He’s handsome, he’s strong
He’s kind and he’s loving,
But something is wrong.

While he’s out fighting dragons
And earning his fame,
She’s sitting at home
Acting happy. Well, tame.

But inside she is crazy.
Her eyes hold back tears
As she sits by the window
Confronting her fears.

Will he ever come back?
Will she see him again?
Does he think of her too?
Are they still even friends?

And does he even care
That she misses him so?
Or does he jeer with his friends
Wherever he goes?

But she hides these dark feelings.
She won’t hold him back.
He has so much potential!
She can’t prevent that.

So she secretly hopes
He remembers she’s there,
And that when he gets back
He’ll remind her he cares.

Because behind all her manners,
Her dresses and bows,
Every princess has feelings
She can’t always show.
