American Soldier

I try to live a simple life
Trying to do my job the best I can
I don’t do it for the money
Or do it for the glory
I just do it for the people that care

With my brothers and sisters by my side
I am able to keep on going
Able to strive for what I need
Able to fight for what I believe

You can bet I’m always ready
I always do my duty
No matter what the price
I’ve counted the cost
I know the sacrifice

I don’t want to die for you
But if death takes me
I will bear the cross with honor
And you will know I died for the right thing

I hope you always know I think of you
And wonder what you may be doing
I wonder how you are, and if you think of me often
I hope you miss me as much as I miss you

I think of you mom
And don’t think I forgot my little sister
I miss my wife, and my children
It seems so long since I’ve seen all your faces
And dad Thanks for the letter

I’m grateful to finally hear it
Never thought it would come out
Sends shivers down my spine
I love to hear that you’re proud of me

I do my job for you
I fight because I care
I remember because I love
I cry because I miss everything I left behind

I am a Son
I am a Father
I am a Brother
I am Husband
I am, an American soldier
