You live happy, you live free
Free form worry and reality

While Mothers are crying
And their children are dying
Food prices continue defying

You sit there feeling perfectly fine
Free of this horrid, horrific crime

Why does the world work in this way?
Disaster strikes us, but not every day
Not in this life or death sort of way
They’ve done nothing wrong, to deserve what they pay
For this there are no words to say

Yet the cycle never seems to stop
A never ending tick-tock, tick-tock
It keeps on proving harder than rock

But the past can be broken
If you let reality soak in

This may sound a bit sappy
But share your happy

We take so much for granted, when our little problems seem so big! There is always somebody else who has it far worse! When I remember that there are children dying form starvation, suddenly I realize from just how small my problems are and how lucky I am to live the life I do! That’s what this poem is about.
