I’ll never forget the times you saved me from getting a beating,
You always hated seeing me hurt. That’s why you were there for me.

You used to call me down to the kitchen to help out with dinner,
It was your duty to make sure I knew what I was doing when I got on my own.

Its almost like I was YOUR child, and not your daughters,’
You cared for me way much more than she does. And I loved that.

The last time I saw and spoke to you, it wasn’t under the best circumstances,
My, oh my, did you hate that place! But you needed to be there to get better.’

When I moved to Jamaica, I thought there would be plenty of more chances to speak to you again; but on February 9th 2010 at 5:56 am, I got a phone call I hope to never receive again.

My “Blossom” had blossomed into heaven where she would forever continue to blossom so bright and beautiful. I bet your wings look gorgeous on you.

You truly were an angel… My angel.
That protected me and looked out for me.
You couldn’t teach me how to live life, but you taught me how to embrace every endeavor and love every moment of being Sade.

I have now blossomed.

Blossom was my grandmothers nickname, and she allowed me to blossom under her wings before her passing.
