Valor
Fiery eyes glowing, adrenaline flowing,
the soldier had answered the call.
Proud banner flowing, his pace never slowing,
marching towards the sound of ringing steel.
He dwelled on his daughter and home,
The things he’d left behind.
He tightened his pack, never looking back.
Solemn, determined eyes set forward.
Men in their prime, covered in grime
were with him in the fight.
Laughter and song on a road so long,
would be replaced by the sounds of battle.
He was not alone, fighting for his daughter and home.
Unsheathing his mace, he quickened his pace
toward the slashing and crashing of bloodied steel.
Then he charged in, all full of zeal.
He smashed and he blocked.
In battle he was locked.
In the end he would return to his daughter and home,
yet others were not so lucky.
