Hydrangeas and gardenias gently sway
Small creatures tousle and play in the sun
All things at peace in the place where they lay

The wild things like to come out in the day
And out will they be ‘til the day is done
Hydrangeas and gardenias gently sway

And nothing’s as bright as the month of May
When the sun and the moon converge as one
All things at peace in the place where they lay

Small pixies swim in the cool ocean spray,
Examine the world in full while they’re young
Hydrangeas and gardenias gently sway

A snake flaunts the hues it means to portray
A Herculean effort turned to none
All things at peace in the place where they lay

This meadow fills with laughs that will not stay
In a small spider’s web, the tale is spun
Hydrangeas and gardenias gently sway
All things at peace in the place where they lay

This piece is a villanelle I wrote for a poetry project early in my junior year for english class. I got my inspiration from a "Magical Meadow" I once discovered while hiking a trail near my home.
