Insensitivity is the Littlest Thing

By
Insensitivity is the littlest thing
That makes me wonder
“Am I good enough for you”
Am I good enough…
That you’ll think of me today,
and see if I have plans this weekend?
Or am I like that pair of jeans you don’t like?
You bought on a whim
Without trying them on
But you’ve already taken the tags off!
Am I good enough for you?
Insensitivity is the littlest thing
That makes me wonder
“Am I pretty enough for you”
When you invite this girl over,
But not me…
In front of my face!
I’m a witness!
Of you inviting one friend, but not the other!
I’m just as pretty as this girl!
I’m just as smart, just as funny!
Yes! I am as pretty as this girl!
But then why didn’t you see if I had plans?
Maybe I’m not as pretty as this girl.
Maybe I’m not good enough for you!
That’s what goes through my head
When you once again leave me in frustration
Over something stupid!
Am I pretty enough for you?
Am I good enough for you?
Insensitivity is the littlest thing
That makes me wonder
“Am I cool enough for you?”
You seem to like talking with me!
You come over to me at school
To chat and gossip
You laugh at my jokes
But why did you ditch me at the mall
For your boyfriend!
Do I make you look bad?
We seemed to have a good time
Together
But then I was alone
Left to think
Am I cool enough for you?
Am I pretty enough for you?
Am I good enough for you?
Insensitivity is the littlest thing
That makes me wonder
How much I could have cried!
How hurt I would have been
If I left you to use, abuse
And left me to lose!
Left me to think;
Did I cry enough for you?
Am I cool enough for you?
Am I pretty enough for you?
Am I good enough for you?
How would I wake up,
Knowing I would be knocked down again
By your Cruelty!
By your selfishness!
By your Insensitivity!
Insensitivity is the littlest thing
That lets me know
I’m better than you!
