Ode to the Media

July 28, 2008
By Rosemary Gee, Phoenix, AZ

You push and you pull
You hypnotize and control
You try to tell us what is "cool"
and we listen.
oblivious,
naive,
young,
we listen.
We dress in your clothes,
We speak the language you teach us,
We love what you love,
We eat what you eat,
or rather, we dont eat at all.
We strive for perfection,
or what you told us is perfect.
We give up everything to be popular.
Our money
Our virginity
Our health
Our opinions
You put labels on us
and control our lives.
We look at you and see God.
We devote so much time to you.
Are you proud of yourselves?
Can you see what you've done?
Congradulations! You've contributed to America's downfall,
Congratulations, you've hurt us all.
