Shadowland

Searching for a sound, a sign,
But all I hear is silence.
Silence has never seemed so loud.
Wishing the stars would align
SO I could escape from this abyss,
But the universe owes me nothing.
Knowing I should stop wishing
There's no turning back now
And hope will just disappoint me.
There's so much that I'm missing
But there's nowhere to go
Trapped in this ever-dark shadowland.
