Gargoyles

Stone and cold
They sit on walls and rooves
That spiral up and up
While they look down

These guardian angels of the night
Horrify and amaze
And with a piercing gaze
Call me too look up and see

They watch and protect
Though we're all afraid
Because they aren't beautiful
Like we think angels should be

Still they are angels
Who love and who care
Though we reject them
These angels of night

Even though they are stone
Even though they're alone
Even though there's no place
For them to call home

The author's comments:
This is what angels truely are. They are the ones who stick up for those even when they aren't the best or the bravest or the strongest. They are the ones that care.
