He beat out a tune
On mommy's head,
He grabbed our arms
Until we bled
Droplets falling
To the ground
In beat with
melody profound.

A fox trot he danced
upon our backs,
Our bones he traced
until he cracked
If we were bruised
he laughed it off
It was only a dance
which critics scoffed

But when he died
and when we cried
Some of us sang lullabies
Others pretended he just wasn't sober
While others cried out "The reign of terror is over!"
