Patience of the Moon

Joy brushed through our lives,
like a breeze lifting up our hair.
The sunlight glittered in our eyes,
making a promise to always be there.

But as quickly as the wind appears,
it is gone in just the same.
All of my troubles, and all of my fears,
seemed to come alive that day.

The spring arose and promised so much,
a cruel smirk on it's face when it took away all that I loved.
In you I placed all my trust,
And like you, it disappeared like the fading sun.

The hours trudge forward ever so slowly,
as if they struggle to do so.
I wonder if the moon ever feels this lonely,
once it realized that the sun and she would never again meet.

In the stillness of the night, I can hear your tone,
the depths of my heart are listening.
It drums on in a somber drone,
waiting to see you again.

Like the night with it's quiet patience,
we must not utter a single scream.
Though I may not see you again soon,
I know I'll see you in my dreams.
