Not So Rose Colored Glasses

Years passed
Days went by
Never being questioned
Time spent
Living with rejection
Lovingly bestowed upon me
Wrapped up in ribbons and bows
A disguise that I unknowingly accepted
Until now
Now that the paper is torn
The ribbons are shredded
The pain is raw
Looking back I see
Through the web of lies
This has always been my reality
And I just never opened my eyes
