The Ballad of Broken Hearts

You see us staring with cold eyes
You pretend not to hear our mournful cries
You do not care if this pain will last
We are nothing but the past

Our pain and cries are nothing to you
It was you who changed what we knew
These lamenting lives are your great feat
For you alone dealt our defeat

You continue with your flirting lives
What we feel is like the stabbing of knives
We try to move on but in the end
We see nothing but you around the bend

You giggle, laugh, and flirt in plain view
And us, well we can’t keep our eyes off you
We try to pretend that we’re okay
We keep our love from the light of day

We can talk to you if we must
But behind the speech is love and lust
You were our world, our flaming passion
We were like clothes that fell out of fashion

Nothing would make us more content
Than thinking of moments with you we spent
When we had the feeling of your hand in ours
We would never conceive any future horrors

We have fallen into the deepest despair
As we were scorned by damsels fair
In our lives we painted paradise
But when you left it turned itself vice
