And Now I See

July 15, 2008
By Forest Romm, Cheshire, CT

I sacrifice my eyes
There's nothing left to see
The buildings have all burned to the ground
I ride the bones of stories
That were buried in the sea
They're not the only part of me that drowned
I hitchhike up a mountain road
That leads me to the sky
The sky is mine since all the birds have flown
I skate across a canyon wall
That's painted with a lie
And glistens in the filtered light
The only light I've known
