To My Love

I shy away from you,
Like an owl shies away from the sun.
You’re too good for me.
I, the hideous creature,
You, the handsome prince from a fairy tale.
How could it be,
That you were the first to notice me?
How is it possible,
That you pushed past the most beautiful of woman,
To me, the one hiding in the back?
I’m not skinny.
I’m not at all pretty.
I’m not even really all there.
But with you, I’m a different girl.
I still wear black,
I still ain’t pretty,
But you make me real.
You made the world fill with color,
When I found it dark and cruel.
You made me laugh,
When I thought it impossible.
You’re like the moon,
And I like a little girl.
I always wonder what it would be like,
To be near you,
And touch you.
I know you’re too good for me,
But why can’t I stop,
Wishing you were mine?
