"You must begin to think of yourself as becoming the person you want to be." -David Viscott

Society paints my life
Over my heart and over my face
Blending me in with everyone else
Its wet bristles dripping with black paint

Over my heart and over my face
Society pulls me in
Its wet bristles dripping with black paint
Its cruelties sealing my lips

Society pulls me in
Watercolors soaking into my body
Its cruelties sealing my lips
But in my mind there is defiance

Watercolors soaking into my body
Disguising me as another canvas
But in my mind there is defiance
I see no art in this

Disguising me as another canvas
I rinse the paint away
I see no art in this
The media is their palette

I rinse the paint away
Smearing the colors of perfection
The media is their palette
Brushes dipped in gold

This is my very first pantoum poem, which is inspired by society pressuring teenagers to be perfect...IE: models on TV, how teens should or shouldn't dress, acting like everyone else, etc. Don't be afraid to be different! :)
