I know someone had to break me.
Someone needed to lift me up, and that some “one” needed to break me down
You were that someone
And I was the strong, free-filled, wild bucking bronco that needed to be… broken.
Make her angry
Make her mean
Drag her down
And slap her around.
Kick her in the gut with your foot
And make her brain bleed with your words
Make her hard
Make her… Make me… YOU!
I stole them
Without even knowing
I stole the only parents you had
The only ones that you have ever known
I was brought into a world.
Your world.
Unknowing and unsuspecting
I am sorry.
You were so quick to snatch the silver spoon from my mouth
And as it fumbled, so did you!
That spoon that was within my small infant mouth
Is now it is above your dirty lighter,
Now that spoon is filled with a substances that
Burns my Eyes
That turns my Stomach
And breaks my Heart.
YOU win!
Take from me what I took from you!
I was nine, but now
I am fine.
Now I am tall
Smart
Confident
Weak
Frail
Vulnerable to nothing but you!
My edges, my loud mouth, and mean words, my sarcastic words, my big head, my life of dread… YOU!
But I will not live with you as my excuse, like you did.
I will rise above the evil within both of us.
For me, not for you.

This piece is a letter poem, written to a person that has negativity influenced another person's life. Within this poem I was trying to convey that your surroundings do not define you. Whether positivity or negativity encompasses your life, if you are strong enough, you can overcome it all!
