You said everyone is disappointing
"it's only natural at heart."
"Oh but you won't be,
you couldn't possibly,"
I said with a start.
"No , I will too someday,
to do so is only humane."
But I knew you better, and faith
I had that you would stay the same.

So we laughed and we spoke
about enemies and the sky.
"Oh but you won't be mean,
only kindness I've seen,"
I whispered strong in reply.
"No, I will be soon,
madness clamors to be released."
But I sighed and giggled 'cause
you knew evil could be ceased.

Yet still we grew, and you taller
I refused to notice the change begin.
But the sky went dark
and shriveled with a spark
and I slowly let you win.
"Why?" I silently asked,
remembering your words with fright.
"Because I'm a careless human," you'd say.
And I hated to realize that you were right.

I loved it! It gave me chills, was full of meaning, told a story... Great job!
