When I was young in the Woods
When I was young in the woods,
Daddy came home with the fish,
Ah that salty stench of fish,
Gotta love it.
When I was young in the woods,
I was just as good as the boys,
Shootin’ the gun, driving, splashin’, enjoyin’ the mud.
When I was young in the woods,
Dirt roads were a given,
Pick-up trucks were driven,
And your true roots were proven.
When I was young in the woods,
Spittin’ was a sport,
Barbeques were every night,
And campfires ended the light of night.
When I was young in the woods,
Country was who you were,
How you grew up and where your family came from.
Now it’s how you dress,
And the truth is fake.
Fake is named fake by the fake.
Who are you to tell me who I am?
When I was young, I grew up in the woods,
True life of mine which is not fake.
So build your bridge, walk over it, and never look back…
Because when I was young in the woods,
The woods is where it was at.
