The light surrounds me
Breaking me out of the imprisoning shadow
And now suddenly, I can see.

The door was locked but I found life’s key
And I flee, flee into the brightest meadow
Where the light surrounds me.

To those above I offer this one plea:
All I ask is for them to show
Reds and blues, greens and whites, all I can see.

I despair to think death is the only possibility.
The thought sunk me into my abyss, my deepest low
And then, my greatest wish, the light surrounded me.

To take control (as we all desire) of my destiny
To forge, like blade and shield, my own creedo
My message, a future I can now see.

Now thanks to you, I am free
I have no more to dread…oh!
The light surrounds me.
And now suddenly, I can see.

Well written. Nice format enhances the message. The parallel between friendship and light is fantastic. There is a faint influence of the Urdu Ghazal style on the writing.
