The world is still, I watch unblinkingly smoldering flames
It's just you, me, and the sun's rays
And your eyes, oh your beautiful eyes
It is them humanity gets up, for them we all rise
You awaken slowly, and stare at me with lusty fiery rage
Ah passion engulf me, I must quench my thirst, this hunger I must sate!
But you are so innocent, so pure, the holiest of angels, the truest of saints
A perfect work of art, so I'll fast a little longer, my love for you can wait.

The author's comments:
I wrote this about being in an intense relationship of deep mutual love, which is constantly on the verge of exploding (smoldering flames)into something even more consuming and passionate, or imploding into nothing. The protagonist is not sure that this new, deeper relationship could match the fire and beauty already in it, so he is constantly trying to keep it to this level, despite his base instincts threatining to overcome him. The issue is compounded by her fragile beauty and innocence, despite the protagonist, although unstated, being as innocent or as 'pure' as her. Personally, I enjoy 'fiery' relationships, as I feel that one of constant agreement is, as well as non-existent, in a word, boring. When you can see angry lust in their eyes, that's when you can see true love also. At least in my opinion. Anyway, I hope you enjoyed it and it made you think.
