Ode to the Innocence
Ode to the Innocence
I look down at the boy
holding my hand,
so carefree,
and so full of innocence.
He’ll smile at anyone
who looks his way.
So mesmerized by the world,
and he’s only age seven.
He does as he wants,
not caring what you think.
Having fun as he does it,
and I can’t help but think
Will this innocence leave him
like it has with so many.
It’s like the flick of a switch,
it’s here, and then it’s gone.
But if this innocence never left us,
and rather stayed with us forever
this world that we will in
just might, be better.
To look at anyone
and see nothing but the best.
To be positive,
and nothing less.
