The flame burning bright lost its chance to fight.
Standing still wondering where, life has gone.
The world gave her reasons to be in fright.

The loneliness and tears almost felt right.
The gold locket heart was given to pawn.
The flame burning bright lost its chance to fight.

Dark tunnel in the road came up for light,
Eyes and heart lost to the dark it was drawn.
The world gave her reasons to be in fright.

With people she knew she was changing tone.
Heavy heart and mind set across her lawn.
The flame burning bright lost its chance to fight.

All she wanted was a shining silver knight.
A dream in her heart, she went with a yawn.
The world gave her reasons to be in fright.

In a deep slumber, she dreamed the whole night.
Alone in the big place, she felt withdrawn.
The flame burning bright lost its chance to fight.
The world gave her reasons to be in fright.

This piece was inspired by my friend who recently went through a bad breakup.
