The Deer

April 7, 2008
By Alex Stowers, Tallahassee, FL

The meadow in stands a deer,
Prodding at the grass while chewing
blades of grass and dew.

Coming up, morning sun rising
rays through the trees peek
bouncing off it's shiny coat.

Not grazing alone, more are around
heads bowed, not a care
except for the feast before them.

Far away a hungry man
waits patiently, gun in hand
a deer he hopes to take back home.

A sound is heard throughout
The deer, they leap in fear
and rush away to safety.
