Blue Eyes

I am in a clear blue lake,
Swimming towards the black center.
I take my time looking at the light blue fish passing by.
Its winter time, but the water is warm.
Swimming closer to the center the water becomes warmer.
I am half way there, my skin begins to burn.
Then I hear something from the distance,
Another swimmer.
I begin to swim faster thinking I could beat her to the center,
But the next thing I know,
She already won the prize.
