Little Boxes

Little people all together
In a circle
Talking about their little families
Sharing tips and stories
On how to get into
The very best schools in town

There are mothers and fathers
Sisters and brothers
And they all talk business
In their respective ways

Little houses lined in straight rows
All along main street
With their well-kept yards
Hold families all together
Because they just can’t do it on their own

Someday all the perfect children
Will have little houses
With their own unhappy families
And they’ll never see the pattern

All the people are so close now
Until they decide otherwise
And then they will find ways
To take each other

Every brother and mother
Sister and father
All have their own pre-packaged boxes
That’ll go up for sale
