Imperfect Heart

Coated in frost
It is a cold, dark place
Black as the night sky
And shattered like a porcelain vase
Crippled with anguish
Swollen with pain
Left to break
From someone's disdain
Guarded by a solid wall
That even love cannot break
It keeps out those who try to enter
And holds in the pain they leave in their wake
I try to mend the broken pieces
That were so callously torn apart
But it's destroyed beyond repair
There is no hope for this imperfect heart
