Feeling stronger than most, but weaker than some

Fearful of Devin as he counts from seven
He is so close that I can smell that sweet gum
Ready or not, here I come.
6, 5, 4...
Heart pounding, I panic and run out the door
I hear footsteps, but they sound like a sweet hum

3, 2, 1...
He is laughing because he thinks this is fun
As I fall, free from fear, I start feeling numb
