Pencil and Paper

I look over to see a pencil starring at a piece of paper
It rarely ever moves
Sometimes it dances along the top of the paper
Not making a single markbut it appears to the rest of the class and the teacher that it is
Sometimes it maneuvers to one corner of the paper
Where it likes to doodle strange little people, hearts, stars, and bubble letters
And yet every one in a while a spark ignites
Thoughts and feelings are recorded on the blank but doodled paper
But still it isn't anything to share with the rest of the class
