Charity Suffereth Long
Love can kill you, rob your life
Can slice right through your very heart
Oh how relentless is the knife
That surely shreds your soul apart
How love can break your every bone
Can etch a hole inside your chest
Can make you feel so dark, alone
Can haunt your thoughts before you rest
But love may also be the stitch
That meanly mends our battered minds
The golden thread that nimbly knits
That sifts and seeks for darling finds
How love can be a gracious thing
That topples over vicious wits
Can make a tattered spirit sing
Can heal the heartache with a kiss
