My favorite thing
is how you put your hand on the back of my neck
and pressed me to you, hard
and it was unspoken grace.

I have so many questions
that have no literal answer
If we tried, the mess of words we made
would be so paramount
that God would laugh
because he made us so human, and so confused
he would laugh as we fumbled around
cracking hearts with our flailing limbs.

But he is mistaken, God is mistaken.
I may be clumsy, but I embrace this human incompetence
I look before I leap, analyzing every ridge is the road before me
but I leap!
You may not be there to catch me,
but for that brief moment, against your lips
I am mid-air in perfect flight
the epitome of unspoken grace.
