High School Mentality
In the cold morning, I lay in my bed.
All snuggled up and resting my head.
When all of a sudden I think to myself,
what do I have that’s worth some self wealth?
I mean, what is my drive that gets me through the day?
That gets me pumped up and ready to play?
What gets me up
from between these warm sheets,
rolls me out of bed and onto my feets?
The motivation to get good grades
and do what needs done
before the light fades.
I need something to get me up on the floor,
Take that first step and though that white door.
My classmates can do, so can I!
But where is that something that tells me why?
There has to be something, I know that for-shore.
Maybe it will hit me
if I hit snooze just once more.
