It was a happy house
Filled with the scents
And the sounds of holiday cooking
And cheer
Christmas music rang out loud and clear
The scent of the tree
Which stood by the window
Still as can be
Glistened with its decorations
The lights, the garlands, the ornaments shown brightly
Outside snow fell upon the ground lightly
And children listened for from their beds
The sounds of Santa's footsteps on the roofs above their heads
Christmas wishes would soon be reality
When they woke that morning
To what their eyes did see
Presents and toys stacked in
Beautiful boxes and bags
Just what they wanted
Piled high all around and under
The beautiful glistening Christmas tree.
