I fear the unknown of the dark.
Not being able to see anything but the tall dark shadows.
They seem to move closer and closer-
Coming to pull me deeper into my worst nightmare.
I feel my heart racing in my chest.
I’m searching for the light.

I fear the unknown of my future.
Taking it day by day just doesn’t seem to be working.
It’s time that I plan out my life.
I am still young – I don’t know what I want.
I am worried about the outcome of my actions.
I don’t want to be a disappointment.

I fear the unknown of people.
A person hearing the voices screaming in their head-
Not knowing that they really are not there.
Someone taking a gun to the head of a stranger
And feeling no emotion as they pull the trigger.
I don’t understand how people can be so evil.

I fear the unknown of death.
Not sure where or when it will be present
Or how it will come, but I know it will.
It will come to take the people closest to me, one by one.
It gives little to no warning; it just appears from the dark.
It is always present, just waiting for when I least expect it.

I fear the unknown of the world.
Never know what will happen next.
Never really knowing if my perception of the world is a lie.
Never truly knowing if this is my reality or just an illusion
That I have created in my mind.
