In the Inside
A homeless man walking down the street.
Greeting everyone he happens to meet.
No one knows the trouble he's faced.
The past that he has seemed to erase.
What made the man that walks today?
How much of his life did he have a say?
The people he greets just nod and walk by.
Some stare and grimace and snort and sigh.
How awful, they think, that he walks this road.
He is as sightly as a dried up toad.
They do not try to see what lies within.
All they see is his toothless grin.
What pity, what tradgedy, what a stab in the back.
For this man just may have something you lack.
