This Isn't a Love Sonnet

We all have one whom we chose to adore,
I have been followed by gents of a kind,
Young men with wide eyes thinking of much more,
Say “I love you;” with fingers intertwined.

But now I can’t return the sentiment,
I am cold-hearted so I lie with shame,
Just waiting for "the one", I don’t repent,
Love’s felt in honesty and not in vain.

Have I no heart, regret for breaking him?
My morals are old fashioned, yes I know,
They tell me that I’m acting much too prim,
Desire is the only thing I’ll show.

For me the waiting is the hardest part,
But I know someone will come steal my heart.
