Died in My Arms

By
I remember the way he held me close
Carefully holding me as if I may break.
Now it is he who has broken,
This is all too much more than I can take.

Our days together in all were short,
But day by day they were long.

They pried his limp body from my arms.
Now, under our tree, he lies six feet under
And I fear I am not too far.
