among the branches
of the sweet tree
green peeks through

stiff swing would be
old and broken but for
bright memories

broken legs from
branch jumping
come home, my love

white dresses
sweet kisses and
May flowers

again


The author's comments:
After we read William Carlos William's poem The Locust Tree in Flower in class, I was inspired to expand upon it. The first words of every line make up WCW's poem; the rest is mine.
