Grandpa
I haven’t found myself stumbling
Over thoughts of you in a while.
For every memory of you
Brings back the image of your smile.
It hurts to know you’re gone,
But it’s strengthening to know you’re there,
Although you’re watching from above,
I know you really care.
I remember how I owed you
At least 100 kisses a day,
How you’d never let me go,
Until “tomorrow” I would say.
I never thought the day would come,
Where “tomorrow” you’d be gone.
When daddy cried his first tear,
My heart exploded like a bomb.
I knew something was wrong
The day mommy took us to the park,
When daddy wore his sunglasses,
Although the sky was dark.
In that moment I regretted
Every time I’d let you go,
Every time you wanted another kiss,
And I turned, and I said “no”.
I miss you more than ever.
Being without you is very hard,
Cause ever since I lost you,
Forever I’ll be scarred.
I know you love me dearly,
From up there in the cloud.
I hope all my achievements
Have made you very proud.
I love you more each day,
Although you’re not with me.
You’re always in my heart
Grandpa, you’re the dream I see.
