Not a box of chocolates or a teddy bear to represent our love,
I give you nothing.
It's a promise just empty enough to break those ties that bind.
It promises no strings attached, like the two pairs of feet that can roam the earth side by side without having to hold hands, too.
Here.
It'll laugh at your idea of a relationship,
like a cold-hearted thief running away with your dreams.
It'll make you understand the difference between what you think you want and what you need.
I'm trying to be realistic.
Not a candy gram or a picture of me,
I give you nothing.
Its distance will hurt, but you'll thank me later,
when the world is blinded by its own lethal love, while we stay
as we are,
for as long as we are.
Take it.
Its hand-holding and weekends spent will be enough,
if you like.
Careless.
Its scent will cling for as long as we let it,
cling to an unplanned number of days to come.

The author's comments:
I wanted to make a love poem that would express my emotions and reject society's ideal relationship at the same time, telling the person that I want to be together but not in the planned or uniform or normal way that everyone else is.
