When I Step Outside

April 15, 2008

When I step outside my door
I look at the floor
and see a speck of grass where there should be a lawn

On my way to school
while im wearing cotton spool
I sizzle though I can recall that the calendar said mid-March

Parched though I am
the fountains are as dry as our dam
so I withhold myself and pray
we'll have rain soon

When living in a place
where summer's taken up permanent base
Always take the time to remember
That, at least
It'll be cool in November
