I named a tree after you
Then watched day by day
As my plant grew taller
As your life grew shorter
I watched you waste away
While the tree flourished
And reached upward
To brush the clouds
And grasp your hand
Between its knobby twig fingers
Pulling you down
Just for a second
So I’ll never forget your face
My tree is strongly rooted down
If only you have been, as well
