Letting him go lost a part of my soul,

He always played an important role.

He helped me to develop and grow,

Pushing me out of times when I felt low.

He always put a smile on my face,

Slowed me down when life felt like a race.

His arms were open when I needed somewhere to turn,

He taught me to make mistakes and learn.

When I think of the times we shared,

I’ll always know how much you cared.

Remembering brings tears to my eye,

But a smile to my face that doesn’t lie.

Knowing you no longer suffer makes it easier to take,

And I know God didn’t make a mistake.

This poem was inspired by my Grandfather, he died when I was 12. He was always a big part of my life and when he died, something Inside me died too.
