Close Your Eyes

By
Close your eyes and imagine the worse.
I've probably lived through it, but I'm not asking for remorse.
Everyday I was kicked around and left alone,
But I kept going through every ache and moan.
Every time I fell asleep I hoped I would die,
But when I woke up and saw my brothers, somehow I would try.
I try to be strong, to push myself farther.
But everyday I cried and it was always harder.
But somehow there always was that little voice,
That always said don't give up you have a choice.

Now close your eyes again and imagine the best.
But forget just the beauty, brains, and the rest.
Imagine someone with love, courage, and strength.
That's the person I am underneath.
I'm the person that has made it through everything,
And now thinks life is empowering.
Somehow my life has turned a circle,
And I know I jumped a giant hurtle.
But somehow there always was that little voice,
That always said don't give up, you have a choice.

As my life continues on with hurtles to jump,
I won't let myself get down into the dump.
Because somehow there will always be that little voice,
That will always say don't give up, you have a choice.
